Hartford City, IN – Blackford Jr-Sr High School is proud to announce the hiring of Steve Boozier as the new Head Football Coach. Coach Boozier brings a wealth of experience in education and athletics, making him an excellent addition to the Blackford athletic community.
Coach Boozier, a graduate of Ball State University, holds a Master’s in Educational Leadership (2014) and a Bachelor’s in Secondary Education (1990). His extensive career in education spans multiple roles, including serving as Athletic Director and Assistant Principal at Jay County High School. In the classroom, he has taught U.S. History, Government, Economics, Physical Education, and Health.
A highly respected football coach, Boozier has led several high school programs to success. His coaching accomplishments include being named Southwest Ohio Division V Coach of the Year (1998) and Wabash County Coach of the Year (1991, 1994). Most recently, he served as the Head Football Coach at Tri-County North High School, where he continued to develop student-athletes both on and off the field.
Boozier is no stranger to the Blackford community as he was a classroom teacher and head football coach from 2000-2008, winning an IHSAA Sectional Championship in 2003. His return marks an exciting new chapter for Blackford football, and his leadership will be instrumental in the continued growth of the program.
In addition to his coaching background, Coach Boozier has played an active role in mentoring teachers, officiating IHSAA sports, and supporting youth athletics. His leadership, experience, and dedication to student-athlete development. Coach Boozier aligns perfectly with the purpose of Blackford Athletics: "We will strive to honor the great tradition of BRUINS Athletics by chasing excellence so that our student-athletes can learn lessons that will serve them in their lives."
