A special message from Mrs. Yvette Rouch, a BJSHS health sciences teacher and ER Nurse at IU Health Blackford:
We need your help!
As you are out holiday shopping and house cleaning, please keep this year's Teddy Bear Toss in mind. It will be held Dec 7th during half time of the boy's Varsity game. With Covid, we were unable to hold our toss last year. The hospital is now out of stuffed animals, and I can tell you first hand, they mean so much to the kids who receive them! If you cannot attend the game, please drop your donation off at the high school. Please place all animals in a bag for tossing (if you don't have enough bags, we've got you covered!) Your animals will stay within the IU Jay and IU Blackford serving area, so you are helping OUR kids!
I am a RN in our ED at IU Blackford, and I am always so proud to give out one of our collected animals! ❤️
In the photo: Recently, a young patient presented to the IU Health Jay Emergency Department with an injury that required sutures. The patient received a teddy bear that was donated by Blackford High School HOSA students earlier this year, and mentioned to attending physician, Dr. David Brown, that the teddy bear was also injured. Dr. Brown felt he had "put the patient through enough" so attending to the teddy bear was the least he could do to make the patient feel better. This small gesture shows the true "compassion" of our team!
