Just a friendly reminder that any student enrolled in Blackford County Schools MUST be up to date on their immunizations or have a annual exemption on file. If you are unsure if your child's vaccinations are up to date, please call BCS Corporation Nurse Amy Sargent, RN at 765-348-7560 ext. 2000 for verification.
According to Indiana State Law (IC 20-34-4-5) students may be excluded from school or extracurricular activities if immunizations are not up to date.
If your student currently has an appointment scheduled to receive their immunizations, please call their school health office with the date.
If you have documentation of the vaccination, send that in to the school asap.
if your student requires an exemption form, you can find those here: https://www.bcs.k12.in.us/page/health-services

Your student's attendance at school means EVERYTHING!

ATTENTION: If your bus-riding student hasn't arrived home yet, please be patient. Some of our buses are experiencing delays this afternoon.

Your kids are alright! 😊
We're off to a great start to the first day back to school at BCS! Thanks to everyone for making the arrival to school a smooth one this morning! This is also a friendly request for patience for the first day's dismissal. It's always a little chaotic for the first week or so. Please expect some delays.

Let's go, Bruins!

A couple of reminders for this Wednesday, July 31:
We are updating the phone system here today. If you are having trouble getting through, please be patient and try later... or even tomorrow. Hopefully, we will have everything "dialed in" by then!
Also, for those with questions about Transportation, check your student's Skyward bus assignment first. We do not always see every question on social media. If you don't find the Transportation/Busing information, please reach out.
Lastly, if you have not registered your student for school, you can do that in-person at their school or online here:
https://www.blackfordschools.org/o/bcs/page/registration-and-immunizations
We can't wait to see our Bruins Back in Blackford on August 7!

Attention, attention! BCS will be conducting telephone line improvements today and some phone services may be interrupted. Thank you in advance for your patience!

It's getting real, Bruins!
Here are the city bus stops for the 2024-2025 school year. You will hear this message often, but we ask for your patience as we transport your students to and from school everyday.

It won’t be long, Bruins, and August 7 will be here!
In the meantime, let’s talk Back to School Registration. THIS MESSAGE IS FOR THOSE WHO HAVE COMPLETED REGISTRATION AND THOSE WHO HAVE NOT: If you have completed online registration, thank you. If you have not, you can find the Registration Information here: https://www.blackfordschools.org/o/bcs/page/registration-and-immunizations
We need EVERYONE to:
• Double-check the Free and Reduced Lunch/Textbook Form
Even though curricular (textbook) fees and lunch fees are free for the 2024-2025 school year, the state of Indiana still requires BCS to collect Free and Reduced information. If your household DOES NOT qualify for Free and Reduced BENEFITS, please check the box and continue the Registration Form. If your household DOES qualify for Free and Reduced benefits, please be sure to complete the entire form before moving on to the rest of BCS Registration.
If you have completed the Free and Reduced Form and have questions, you can return to the form in your student’s Registration, edit it and resubmit.
Questions? Contact your student’s school or call 765.348.7550.
Lastly, don't forget that In-Person Registration is underway TODAY at BJSHS until 6 p.m.
In-Person Registration takes place at BPS and BIS on Thursday, July 25 from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m.

Open House/Meet the Teacher Nights have been scheduled for the 2024-2025 school year. Mark Your calendars, Bruins!

We love to shout out our hardworking employees! Principal Craig Campbell sends out a big thank you to Maintenance staff members Matt Felver and Becki Cale for sprucing up the BPS landscape with some new mulch. Looks great!

We need your help, Bruins.
Due to a last-minute resignation, BCS seeks an Industrial Tech teacher for BJSHS. For this specific position, unlicensed/non-traditional applicants will be considered. Please take a moment to review the job posting and licensing criteria: https://core-docs.s3.us-east-1.amazonaws.com/documents/asset/uploaded_file/1299/BCS/4605620/Industrial_Technology_Posting.pdf
If you, or someone you know, has a background in Industrial Technology, would like to share their knowledge with high school students in a classroom setting and meets the criteria shared in the posting, contact BJSHS Principal Jason Ridge at jridge@blackfordschools.org or by phone at 765.348.7560.
Also, please share this post!

Just a reminder that BCS Online Registration is open.

For those who prefer In-Person Registration, check out the dates and times for your student's school.
We can't wait to see you, Bruins!

There is much to do before the first day back to school on August 7! Have you registered your student(s)?
The Back to School Circus Carnival for school supplies will take place on July 24 at 10 a.m. at BJSHS!
As always, the fine folks at Smith Insurance are organizing this popular event and we thank them for it!
Over the years, we have been asked by people who want to help by donating school supplies or money to the Back to School Carnival. Check out the flyer. There are a number of ways you can help get free school supplies into the hands of our Blackford Bruins!
We will see everyone soon!
